the dark ride

C'est un album à part, mais j'ai beaucoup aimé a prise de risque (the departed... Par exemple).
J'y retrouve enormément d'émotions, le solos de "the dark ride", me fait frémir.

The Departed....quand tu connais la version originale (enregistrée sur le Beautiful Sin) tu vas dans un coin et tu pleures....

Pour moi c'est 4/5, je l'aime bien dans son ensemble!
J'adore le morçeau "the dark ride", je n'aime pas "if a could fly", l'album n'est pas parfait mais homogène et aventureux dans son ensemble! Et perso, je trouve qu'il vieillit assez bien, mais pas autant que "the legacy"!

If I Could Fly me gonfle au possible, et dire que j'ai découvert le groupe avec "ça"...

Je trouve en effet cette chanson peu intéressante et même gonflante. Malgré tout, une fois le titre écouté, l'intro au piano vous reste longtemps en tête ^^ Pas d'bol lol

Putain c'est vrai! Rien que t'en parle je l'ai déjà dans la tête!!

au depart, je l'aimais bien, puis a force....puis elle est sur chaque tournée, ca ça gonfle, a paris j'aurais préféré l'avoir dans le medley ou pas du tout, ca prend la place d'une autre plus interessante

C'est clair, y a quand même d'autres brûlots plus intéressant dans le répertoire.
Puis ils auraient pû déterrer un vieux titre comem Twilight Of The God à la place ou un We Got The Right des familles...quoique je ne sais pas si nos oreilles auraient supporté

Ils auraient pu prendre peut-être n'importe quel titre des Keepers (peut-être pas A Little Time quand même ) et virer If I Could Fly. Pour We Got The Right Domi je ne pense pas que ce soit la peine. Et pourquoi pas Livin' Ain't No Crime ou même Victim Of Fate? (quoique là Andi là-dessus...)

Sur Livin' Ain't No Crime, Deris y arriverait sans problème.

Ouep je pense mais c'est Victim Of Fate qui me ferait peur...

Victime of fate, ça pourait l'faire! Je pense qu'Andi en serait capable en y adaptant son style, et puis ça serait génial sur scène!!

Ben j'aime beaucoup If I Could Fly. Un air qui reste en tête, c'est sympa et le titre en lui-même n'est pas dégueux, assez en-dehors du style habituel de la citrouille.

My opinion:

A strange album.There is something I like of this album and many things I dont like

At first it´s a big change in the sound.Here is my first stupid sentence.Too dark I dont like the sound of this album.It sounds like Uli wanted the album sound.And this is the reason why Uli & Roland where kicked from the band.( imo)The next follow Uli projects sounds like the dark ride.Michael Weikath said many times he did not want to release this album but he was forced by the rest of the members.

About the songs:

I really dont like too much songs of this album.To me are only good Mr torture, Live for your pain The departed and the dark ride.The rest of the songs I considerer not really nice

For my experience i have seen this is the kind of album you can love or you hate to death

There is something good on it.It was change.It didnt sound as the prevoius Helloween records and this is always good.I really love when a band does a change ( style , sound.. whatever)

I also have to say i dont like Charlie as producer so i hope Helloween will back to work with Tommy again for the next album ( im talking about the next album to gambling)

So, it as an album that it´s ok but I must confess i dont use to listening very often.Its an album that people use to love because the sound but maybe if this record was produced by another guy and another sound with the same songs maybe some of you wouldn´t rate it as good as you did

There are 2 producers on this album: Charlie Bauerfiend and Roy Z.
Charlie make a good job on many album but I don't like the sound of Roy Z on other albums.
I don't like the sound, I don't like many titles on it.
I like Mr Torture and....that's all!

Yes you are right.I forgot to mention Roy Z and Roy is well know because he likes the low afination( as he did in some Bruce solo albums) on guitars so his job as co-producer helped too much to the dark sound of this album


I think it was Uli´s idea to get Roy as co-producer but im not 100% sure about this.I think i read about this long time ago but im not sure at all

Ah, je m'aperçois que je n'ai rien écrit sur cet album, j'y vais.

A part 2 titres à rayer au Cutter sur la galette et le Picture Disc (Mirror-Mirror et Escalation 666 ) Késako ces morceaux ???

Le reste passe très bien, obligé, j'adore les titres de Wek et Roland signe pour ma part ici, son meilleur titre "the Dark Ride".
Il a en effet tout compris au "concept" qui n'a pas lieu d'être.

A ce sujet, pour la petite histoire, lorsque j'ai fait l'interview de Mr Weikath après l'éviction de Roland et Uli, je lui ai demandé si le prochain album serait un 'concept-album' (Rabbits) et il me répond :

"Non, nous venons de faire un concept avec 'The Dark Ride'; c'est soyez triste, black, sombre sans espoir et c'est tout !"

Il a eu du mal à avaler la pilulle "Dark Ride" et son Roy Z. qui lui disait "Hey Weiki, quel son de guitare tu nous as trouvé aujourd'hui ? Encore plus ringuard que la dernière fois ?
ça n'a pas été une partie de plaisir pour Wek de bosser avec Roy :x

Et puis, je trouve que le meilleur son qu'HelloweeN ai eu, c'est bien celui de maintenant (depuis Rabbits), "Better Than Raw", c pô encore ça :o

Why Charlie rules ?

An ask of sound. Lionel like the sound that provide from Charlie very much. For me it's ok. Tommy Hansen never grow with modern style. He's a little bit old fashionned.

Yeah but modern sound is not synonymous of better sound right? I mean , that´s exactly why I don´t Like Charlie too much

In my opinion the problem with all the records Charlie did it´s the same problem that people like Anssi Kippo , Mikko Karmila Or Jussila has.Also Christ Tsangarides( and many other of course)

The sound is ok but the records sounds to much clean and pretty far from the orginal sound of the band live performaces so I dont like this kind of producers, because, yeah maybe the records sounds ok but when the band play the songs in live perfomaces it sounds very different and I dont like that.

I prefer that kind of producers that take the sound of the band.The real sound of the band

Do not forget we are talking about Rock, Metal and related music not about crapp like beyonce or spice girls

To me the gambling with the devil sounds too much modern.In some way this record sounds like, i dont know... Muse and bands like that.The gambling sounds too much modern and then when you listen the band live is very very very far from the sound of the records.So that´s the point why I dont like Charlie.Im not saying Charlie is crapp as producer but i dont like.

In my opinion modern sound is used to hide the bad things of the bands because when you listen the record you say wow its sounds really cool, very modern, but in the end you are listening something that does not exist. Nothing´s true.

At last,all the Charlie records sound in the same way that´s why I hope Helloween change the producer for the next record.They need something new.Someone that take the real sound of the band as I think that Gambling with the devil has closed another Helloween era

It will be great and bizarre with Andy Sneap or Peter Tatgren in the Abyss Studio ...
A deep and black sound like Immortal or Dimmu Borgir ...

Sorry, it's a joke but it will be funny to listen !

So, someone else than Charlie for the next album will be cool too...
But not Tommy and his old fashioned sound .
